How This Got Started

To put it quite simply, an incredible posthumous blog post from a soldier who died in Iraq (which can be found by clicking on the title of my post) has inspired me to begin my own blog.  I can't even remember how I found this incredible muse, as I had never heard of Andy Olmsted, Hilzoy, or the blogging site Obsidian Wings when I first read this six months ago, but I am grateful that I did.

The Catch 22 here is that while I feel that Andy's post is a must read, it is also somewhat of a crippling blow to this blog which is just beginning.  Can I live up to the standard set by such a well thought out and emotional piece of writing on a subject as personal as one's own death?  Short Answer: No.  I can only hope that anyone reading this will bear with me while I try to sort out this whole blogging idea.

Thanks to Obsidian Wings and Hilzoy for posting Andy's last writing.  While I have not spent much time on your blog to this point I plan on changing that.

And of course a very, very big thank you to Andy Olmsted (wherever you may be).  I didn't know you, but I wish I had.

Whoa - I can see how Andy's blog motivated you to start yours. We all need the intellectual and emotional stimulation that can be lacking in our day to day lives. Not too much pressure, but could you please make sure you provide it for the rest of us?

Oh yeah, no pressure at all. I'll do what I can!
